Grâce Favrel was interviewed by Aljazeera in connection with Felicien Kabuga’s recent arrest.

Felicien Kabuga, one of the most wanted suspect of the Rwandan genocide, was arrested near Paris on May 16th 2020.

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda has indicted Mr Kabuga on seven accounts including genocide and crime against humanity.

Mr Kabuga is accused of being a main financier of the Rwandan genocide that killed more than 800,000 tutsis and moderate hutus between April and July 1994. He is also accused of being involved in the management of the Radio Television Milles Collines (RTLM). The radio is know to have been inciting hatred and calling on people to take part in the massacre during the genocide.

On 3rd of June 2020, French courts will decide whether to hand Kabuga to the UN International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, based in The Hague, the Netherlands and Arusha, Tanzania.
