The Conservative party has always been opposed to the Human Rights Act 1998 which allows to invoke ECHR\u2019s right before national courts. In its 2017 manifesto the Conservative party promised to review the human rights framework once Brexit was complete. Nonetheless, as it currently stands, negotiations between London and Brussels are leading toward a status quo. The latest Commission proposal makes judicial cooperation between the EU and the UK conditional to the UK retaining the Human Rights Act in its current form. This is highly controversial in London.
